Coffee has a long history in Cambodia, especially in Mondulkiri Province back to 18th century when French introduced coffee in Cambodia and Vietnam. A few coffee varieties can be found in Mondulkiri namely Excelsa Coffee, Robusta Coffee and Arabica Coffee. Mondulkiri Coffee farmers are mostly indigenous people who grow mainly Robusta Coffee due to elevation and knowledge while Excelsa coffee is grown in the forest long time ago.

PIDA Coffee farm is an authentic coffee farm which was born with love and dream in 2016. With total land of 65 hectares, the estate covers from top of mountains to valleys and hidden waterfall. PIDA coffee farm introduced Arabica Coffee (Catimor) to Mondulkiri province in 2018. After 3 years of harvesting and cupping with interesting flavours profile; we decided to expand our coffee plantation from 2 hectares to 10 hectares in 2023. Within our farm, you will find Excelsa coffee, Robusta Coffee and Arabica Coffee, Cacao, avocado, durian, golden passionfruit and a lot more native crop and flowers of the region. Sustainable farming practice is our key farming principle.

The Coffee plantation is divided into 5 types of Agriculture practices.

1. The first Arabica plot is grown intercrop with Avocado, Macadamia, durian, banana.
2. The second Arabica plot is grown intercrop with passionfruit cover on the top to give shade and weekly income from passionfruit harvesting.
3. The third Arabica plot is grown intercrop durian mix in the row and passionfruit cover on the top.
4. The fifth plot for coffee and Cacao are grown in the thick forest of our mountain slope-coffee agroforestry which is home to black shank douc and other wild animal. Each type offers different result.

However, in 2024 we started our Robusta plantation with special variety-grafting. Excelsa coffee is used as rootstock because it is resistant to drought and disease and Robusta Mango leave is used as scion because it is new variety that produce hight yields.

On the stand point of Agri-entrepreneur and Cambodia coffee pioneers, we’re happy to share the experience and lessons learn from our journey to the community. We understand the important of Public and private partnership by cooperating with Preak leap Agriculture institute and professors to experiment on agriculture input and practice which will later on benefit to other farmers.
